Rep Data Solution Spotlight: ReDem Founder Interview

As Rep Data brings together SightX, OWL, ReDem and Research Defender, we're launching our Solution Spotlight series to introduce the companies and founders behind each part of the business.

Each company was built to solve a different challenge within the research process. Over the coming months, we'll sit down with the founders and leaders behind each brand to learn how they got started, the problems they set out to solve and what they're building as part of Rep Data.

We're continuing the series with ReDem.

Founded by Florian Kogl, ReDem was created to address one of the most persistent challenges in market research: ensuring that the data researchers analyze is data they can rely on. We spoke with Florian about how ReDem evolved from solving customer problems into a dedicated data quality platform, why data cleaning deserves more attention and why joining Rep Data felt like the right next step.

The last mile of survey data quality

Florian describes ReDem as "the last mile of survey data quality." He shares that "you can have great sample, a well-designed questionnaire, and a solid methodology, but if low-quality interviews make it into the final dataset, every decision built on that data becomes less reliable. ReDem makes sure that doesn't happen."

Asked how he'd explain ReDem to someone outside the industry, Florian says: "Imagine you're making an important business decision based on thousands of people's opinions. Our job is to make sure those opinions actually come from real, engaged people who took the survey seriously, not from bots, fraudsters, or people clicking through just to earn an incentive. In simple terms, we make sure companies can trust the data before they act on it."

Solving a problem that keeps changing

Florian says the complexity comes from keeping pace with a problem that continues to change. "The difficult part is continuously staying ahead of how survey fraud and low-quality participation evolve. The line between removing too many respondents and removing too few is incredibly thin. Finding that balance requires constant research, testing, customer feedback, and refinement."

ReDem also has to process very large volumes of survey data while fitting into existing research workflows. "Our platform has to analyze very large volumes of survey responses in real time while integrating seamlessly into different survey platforms and workflows. Making all of that reliable, fast, and easy to use takes years of engineering and product development. Even with today's AI capabilities, that isn't something you can simply build overnight."

ReDem started by solving customer problems

Like many founders in market research, Florian didn't originally plan to build a research technology company. "Through a previous company, we were already working with simple surveys and started having conversations with research agencies and insight teams. One problem kept coming up over and over again: data quality."

ReDem grew from those early customer conversations. "Originally, we didn't set out to build a data quality platform. We simply started solving problems our early customers were facing. Through a lot of trial and error, we gradually realized this wasn't just one customer's problem, it was an industry-wide challenge. That's when ReDem really started to take shape."

Why Rep Data?

By the time Rep Data approached ReDem, the two companies already knew each other well. Rep Data was already using ReDem, so Florian had already seen how the platform fit alongside audience sourcing and Research Defender.

Florian says the conversations quickly reinforced that both companies approached customer problems in similar ways. "From our very first conversations, it felt like we approached customer problems in the same way. Both companies genuinely care about solving real problems and going the extra mile for clients. It felt like finding the right home for ReDem."

Joining Rep Data has also changed what ReDem is able to do. Processing significantly more interviews has expanded the amount of data the platform learns from, while working alongside internal teams has created opportunities to refine the product more quickly. Florian also sees ReDem playing a broader role in client engagements. "Instead of solving one part of the research process, we can contribute to a complete end-to-end solution."

Looking ahead

Florian expects research workflows to become more connected over the next few years, bringing together respondent sourcing, survey execution, quality assurance, data delivery and visualization into a more integrated experience. Rather than thinking about individual products, he sees researchers benefiting from a more connected workflow where quality is built into every stage of the research process.

"Data quality is never 'solved.' As technology evolves, fraud evolves. As AI improves, quality assurance has to improve as well. That's exactly what makes this space so interesting. There will always be new challenges to solve, and I'm excited that ReDem gets to tackle them as part of the Rep Data team."
